This holiday, celebrated annually on June 19th, commemorates the day of emancipation for the last enslaved people in the United States in 1865. Nana's Best Ever Mac N’ Cheese
Ingredients1 pound elbow macaroni pasta1 block yellow sharp cheddar cheese, cubed1 block white cheddar cheese, cubed1 block yellow mild cheddar cheese, grated2 cups milk1 can evaporated milk4 tablespoons unsalted butter2 eggsSalt and pepperDirections 1. Preheat the oven to 350℉. Grease a 9x13 inch casserole dish with butter. 2. Boil pasta in salted water according to package directions. Drain and set aside. 3. In a large saucepan over medium heat, whisk together milk and evaporated milk. 4. Whisk in salt and pepper to taste, half of the grated cheddar cheese, and butter. Heat until butter is melted. 5. Add in eggs and whisk until mixture is combined and heated through. 6. Add drained pasta to the casserole dish and pour sauce over top. Stir to combine. 7. Add alternating cubes of sharp cheddar cheese and white cheddar cheese to the macaroni mixture. 8. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake at 350℉ for 20 minutes. 9. Remove aluminum foil and sprinkle with the remaining grated cheese. 10.
